Kenneth Foster

Services are scheduled for 10 am Saturday, August 21, at Faith Baptist Church for Kenneth A. Foster of Artesia, New Mexico.

Kenneth, 89, died on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Artesia General Hospital.

Michael Elliot will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 1pm to 6pm on Friday.

Kenneth was born on August 14, 1932 in Lakewood, New Mexico; the son of James N. Foster and Mattie Boyce Foster.

He was married to Shirley Nivens on May 29, 1957 in Artesia.

He graduated from Artesia High School in 1950. After high school, he attended NMSU where he played football. After college, he played three years of minor league baseball for the Artesia Drillers and Artesia Numexers.

He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church and owned and operated Ken Mar Furniture for 46 years. He loved visiting with all of his customers throughout the years, and dearly missed them after the store sold in January 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl Foster and James Foster, and by a sister Lois Smith.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Foster; a daughter Kenetta Matthews and husband Jack; grandchildren Shilo Bradshaw and husband Reed of Midland, TX, Saranda Stallings and husband Landon of Hobbs, NM, Samantha Matthews and fiance Grayson Gabriel of Smithville, MO, and Paris Matthews; great-granddaughter Mabrey Stallings; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
