A celebration of the life of Kayci Ann Houghtaling is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9, at the Artesia High School Auditorium. Rev. Gavin Vaughan and Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services.
Kayci, age 7, passed away December 3, 2011 at Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Kayci was born February 2, 2004 in Roswell, New Mexico the daughter of TyHoughtaling and Jennifer Needham Houghtaling.
She was a second grade student at Yeso Elementary and member of Hermosa Drive Baptist Church.
Kayci gave her life to Jesus on September 12, 2010 and in faith and obedience followed her decision in believers baptism.
She loved her friends, her teachers, and her family. She loved to entertain others in her home, and was always eager to gather with her church family. Kayci was very generous. She loved to play in sudsy water, to set up pretend pet shops, doctors offices, and lemonade stands, and to ride her scooter. Her life revolved around church, family, and innocent adventures. Her brothers were her best friends.
Survivors include her father Ty Houghtaling and mother Jennifer Houghtaling and two brothers Clay Houghtaling and Cael Houghtaling of the family home, Grandparents Jerry and Twyla Houghtaling of Artesia, Lewis and Susan Needham of Lake Arthur, Great Grandparents JR and Boxie Houghtaling of Artesia, Bonnie Williams of Artesia, Leonard and Eva Ann Witcher of Artesia, and Aunts and Uncles, Joby and Pam Houghtaling of Artesia, Jeff and Jennifer Houghtaling of Artesia, and Corey and Robin Needham of Hobbs as well as numerous cousins.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hermosa Drive Baptist Church, or Artesia Public SchoolsKayci fund.
