Katie Scott

Funeral services are scheduled on Wednesday, July 20, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church for Katie Scott of Artesia.

Mrs. Scott, 93, beloved Mother and Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on July 17, 2016 at San Pedro Nursing Home.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 19, at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

She entered this world on June 29, 1923 in Elida, NM, born to Spurlin Martin and Beatrice (Samples) Martin. On December 1, 1940 she married Charlie Scott in Portales, NM. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1997.

Katie was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church. She had also been a very active member at the First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, babysitting, her roses and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Kathie Ragsdale, a brother Bubba Martin, sisters Faye Peeve and Dean Martin, and step-sister Barbara.

She is survived by her sons Charles Scott of Artesia, Gary Scott Sr. and wife Gloria of Artesia, and Pancho Scott of Artesia; her daughters Charlotte Holland of Vancouver, WA, and Patti Horner and husband Ronald of Artesia; step-sisters Joan Moore of Albuquerque, NM, Lawana Hite of Albuquerque and Rhonda Hardy of Nevada; grandchildren Stephanie Cook, Diane Wright, Jack Holland, David Scott, Todd Scott, Duncan Hightower, Chad Scott, Gary Scott, Jr., Spencer Scott, Missy Williams, Kari Foster, Ross Horner, Shelli Scheuch, Dennis Miller, Kenny Ragsdale, and Amanda Mayberry; 31 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to San Pedro Nursing Home, 1402 W. Gilchrist Avenue, Artesia, NM.
