Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 2 at West Main Baptist Church for Katie Mae Alexander-Huffmon of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Huffmon, 90, died Friday, October 27, at the Artesia General Hospital.
Keith Kilpatrick will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Katie was born in Mineola, Texas on August 18, 1927 to Clyde Alexander and Trudie (McKinzie) Alexander.
On May 23, 1946 she was married to Dave Huffmon in Albuquerque, N.M. They moved to Artesia in 1963 from Thoreau, N.M. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1971. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Avon C. Huffmon.
Katie was an administrator and worked for the DMV and was also a Police Dispatcher for many years. She enjoyed horseback riding in her younger days, cross-sticthing, baking for whoever would enjoy her treats and canning food. Her love was her family and spending time with them.
She is survived by her children Cheryl Scrimshire of Artesia, and Dave Huffmon and wife Cathy of Kamiah, Idaho; siblings Bernice Marable, Jean Alford, and Clay Alexander all of Farmington, N.M.; grandchildren Shan Harlow and husband Jeff, Lacee Edwards and husband Jonas, Crystal Primaky and husband David, Misty Daugherty and husband Drew; great-grandchildren Kelley Forehand and husband Andrew, Dustin Harlow, Gentry and Shaylee Fuller, Codi and Colter Primaky, and Dasha Daugherty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
