Kathleen Coll

Kathleen Katie Mama, Mom, Grandma Katie, Aunt Katie Blount Coll, 88, died October 13, 2003 at the Landsun Health Care Center in Carlsbad, after a lengthy illness. She was born April 15, 1915 in Shelburn, Indiana to Charles Charley and Florence Blount. They moved from Shelburn to the Estancia Valley, then to Artesia, where she met and married Britton Coll on March 14, 1934. She was a homemaker and a great cook. Britton predeceased her in 1994. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Jean Boling, in 1991, and two brothers, Byrl Blount and Carlos Blount. She is survived by her children, Janis Shoup and husband, George, of Carlsbad, Lawrence Coll and wife, Kathy, of Hobbs, and Sue Pemberton and husband, Joe, of Artesia, her sister, Gerry Lightwine, and brother, Bob Blount and wife Carrie Mae, all of Albuquerque, sisters-in-law Marion Rounsaville of Las Cruces and Lu Coll of Albuquerque, grandchildren Janet Richardson and husband, Scott, of Artesia, Jana Williams of Lockhart, Texas, LeAnne Korbel and husband, Stephen, of Upper Montclair, New Jersey, David Shoup and wife, Christy, of Carlsbad, Katelyn Scott and husband, Jeff, of Champaign, Illinois, and Jori Sechrist and husband, Jeff, of Lafayette, Indiana, eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many bridge playing friends. She was a former member of the Artesia Public Library board and a longstanding member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, where closed-casket services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Oct. 18, with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. She had the most wonderful smile and infectious laugh and was well loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
