Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, at Faith Baptist Church for Karen L. Jones of Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Jones, 61, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at her home. PPastor Michael Elliott will officiate at the services. Cremation is under direction of Terpening amp; Son Mortuary. PMrs. Jones was born December 28, 1946 in Seattle, Washington; the daughter of Harold Kenneth Kerslake and Carol Lee Sittler Kerslake. POn October 15, 1966 she was married to Raymond J. Jones in Burien, Washington. They came to Artesia in 1975 from Missouri. PKaren was a school bus driver and a trainer for other drivers. She was a member of Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Vigil Honor Order of the Arrow and given the Indian name Sachgach. She was also a Wood badge instructor. She and her husband owned and operated the RK Jones Horses, and she belonged to the American Quarter Horse Association and the Appaloosa Horse Association. She was of the Baptist Faith. PKaren was preceded in death by her parents and a step- mother. PSurvivors include her husband Raymond J. Jones of the family home; sons William Raymond Jones and wife Patrizia of Newport News, Virginia, and Robert Dale Jones and wife Wendy of Amarillo, Texas; brothers Keith Kerslake and wife Alice of Allen, Texas, and Kris Kerslake and wife Shona of The Villages, Florida; grandchildren Amber Jones, Kailee Jones, and Teagan Jones all of Amarillo, and Jamila Jones of Newport News; and step-father Duane Patneaud of Montana. PThe family would like to extend an invitation to those in attendance to a meal that will be provided by the Sun Country Volunteer Fire Station at 41st and Main Street immediately following the services.
