Justa Herrera

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 22 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Justa Aguilar Herrera of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Herrera, 92, died April 15, 2019 in Artesia, NM.

Fr. Vijay will officiate at the service with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jesus De Anda, Ramon De Anda, Lionel Ruiz, Omar Ruiz, Cruz De Anda and Hector Pena. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21 at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Justa was born on August 1, 1926 in Ojinaga, Mexico; the daughter of Cruz and Anastacia (Jimenez) Aguilar. In April 1967 she married Amador S. Herrera in Mexico. They moved to Artesia in 1969. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2008.

She was a housewife, member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and Cursillistas. She enjoyed sewing. making quilts, cooking and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Raymond Ruiz, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Survivors include her daughter Maria M. Ruiz and husband Lionel of Artesia; grandchildren Omar Ruiz and wife Brittney; 3 great-grandchildren.
