June Taylor

Memorial services are scheduled at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 10, at First Baptist Church for June Winner Taylor, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Taylor, 87, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Artesia, New Mexico.

Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services.

She was born Iris June Winner on July 17, 1926 in Seymour, Texas the daughter of Harry Leroy Winner and Gertrue Louise McDonnell Winner.

June graduated from Lamesa High School and attended Texas Tech University for two years. She became a flight attendant for Pioneer Airlines based in Amarillo until her marriage.

On Sept. 2, 1949, nine and half years after their first date, she was married to Owen C. Taylor Jr. in Lamesa, Texas. After marriage they moved to Houston, Richmond Virginia and finally to Artesia in 1952. She raised her family in Artesia and was Owens office manager until their retirement in 1995.

Her first Sunday in Artesia, she joined First Baptist Church where she remained an active member until her death. She sang in the church choir and Artesia Community Chorale, taught sunday school for over 50 years, tutored elementary students in the First Baptist Church after school program, and was a member of P.E.O.

June was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and to her church.

She never met a stranger, gave generously of herself to others and never stopped smiling.

Survivors include daughters Debbie Maddux and husband Chuck of Cresson, Texas, and Kathy Taylor of Artesia sons David Taylor and wife Linda of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and Stuart Taylor of Artesia grandchildren Kirsten Maddux Tubbs and husband Todd of Burleson, Texas, Jeb Maddux of Dallas, Texas, Beau Maddux of Ft. Worth, Texas, Matt Taylor of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Alyssa Taylor of Mannheim, Germany, Andy Taylor of San Angelo, Texas, and Mackenzie Taylor of Columbus, Ohio greatgrandchildren Kaleigh Moss, Wyatt Moss, Hannah Tubbs and Sam Tubbs of Burleson, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Owen, parents and 2 half brothers.
