Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at First Presbyterian Church for Julia N. Cerny, 1205 W. Bullock Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Cerny, 96, died Monday evening, January 31, 2011 at her home.
Rev. Cathy Anderson will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Gary Cerny, Glenn Cerny, Chris Cerny, and Jeff Cerny, and greatgrandsons Christopher Cerny and Shawn Cerny.
Julia was born May 26, 1914 in Piney Fork, Ohio the daughter of Emilio Persello and Louise Riva Persello.
On Sept. 30, 1933 Julia was married to James Cerny in Steubenville, Ohio. They came to Artesia in 1952 from Piney Fork. He preceded her in death April 18, 1998. She was also preceded in death by sons, Robert Cerny and Richard Cerny.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and an active member of the Good Samaritan Helpers Club. A loving and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In May 2004, Julia celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends . . . forever young. You will be sorely missed.
Survivors include daughterinlaw Mary Lynn Cerny of Tularosa, N.M. grandsons Gary Cerny of Artesia, Chris Cerny of Carlsbad, N.M., Glenn Cerny of Detroit, Mich. and Jeff Cerny of Detroit granddaughter Pam Cerny of Dallas, Texas three greatgrandsons seven greatgranddaughters and two greatgreatgrandchildren.
The Cerny family would like to extend their appreciation for the compassionate, dedicated care given to Julia by hospice nurses and staff and loving caregivers.
