Juanita Duran

Services are scheduled for 10 am Monday, October 23, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Juanita Ornelas Duran of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Duran, 83, died on October 14, 2023 in Lubbock, Texas.

Father Vijay will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Louis G. Duran III, Eric Tesillo, Michael O. Duran, Joelouis Garcia, Fernando Carbral, John Henry Duran, Zachary Duran, Marie Duran, Guadalupe Hernndez, David D. Chavez, and Dominic Grado.

Juanita was born on June 12, 1940 in Candelaria, Texas; the daughter of Francisco Ornelas and Ramona Urias Ornelas.

She was a housewife and enjoyed cooking, singing, watching the old cowboy movies with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. She loved the time that she was able to spend visiting with her friends, family and especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and a sister.

Survivors include her children Louis O. Duran Jr., Mary O. Duran, San Juanita Sandoval, Samantha D. Galvan, Aurora D. Rodriguez, Elida O. Duran, Ruben O. Duran, Anthony O. Duran, and Israel O. Duran; a brother Manuel Ornelas; a sister Nena Ornelas; and also by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
