Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Juanita Carrasco Duran of Artesia.
Mrs. Duran, 66, passed away on April 9, 2017 at Covenant Specialty Hospital in Lubbock, TX.
Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the service with burial to follow at Woodbine cemetery. Pallbearers are Chris Reyes, Xavier Garcia, Carter Garcia, Timothy Galindo. Robby Galvan, Sunny Jaure, Dominic Duran, Lawrence Perez and Lorenzo Perez.
Visitation will be on Monday at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a Rosary to follow at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace.
Juanita was born on October 1, 1950 in Carlsbad, NM; the daughter of Isabel Jaure. On December 1, 1980 she married Henry Duran Sr. in Pecos, TX. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2016. She was a longtime resident of Artesia.
She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Juanita loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Christopher Carrasco and brother Francisco Jaure.
Survivors include her daughters Bianca Duran (Anthony Carillo) of Hagerman, NM. Victoria Duran Perez (Lawrence) of Artesia, Corian Duran (Carter Garcia) of Hobbs, NM; God-daughter Ashly Campos of Artesia; step-daughters Marina Chavarria (David) of Lake Arthur, NM, Henrietta Delgado (Raul) of Artesia and Nancy Hernandez of Hobbs, NM; step-sons Henry Duran Jr. (Felicita), David Duran (JoAnn), Ismael Duran, and Duran Eddie (Lilly) all of Artesia; brothers Diosdado Jaure of Carlsbad, Ricky Galvan of Carlsbad, Joe Carrasco of Livingston, TX and Ruben Galvan of Lamesa, TX; sister Martha Montoya of Carlsbad; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
