Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Juana Vargas of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Vargas, 83, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.
Fr. Brian Guerrini, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesse Guerrero, Pedro Vargas, Filiberto Vargas, Juan Jose Perez, Merced Flores, and Benny Vargas.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Juana was born February 12, 1928 in Congregacion, Coahuila Mexico the daughter of Juan Antonio Perez and Petra Mejia Perez. She came to Artesia in 1974 from Ojinaga, Mexico.
On Jan. 9, 1948 she was married to Venceslaus Vargas in Matamoros, Mexico.
Juana was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Venceslaus Vargas of the family home sons Manuel Vargas of Artesia, Santos Vargas of Alamogorgo, N.M., and Pedro Vargas of Artesia daughters Maria Blanca Quiroz of Mexico, Maria Delores Gonzales of Mexico, Maria del Refugio Mascorro of Artesia, Margarita Ruiz of Artesia, and Ana Lerma of Lovington, N.M. brothers Bruno Perez, Faustino Perez, and Manuel Perez all of Mexico sisters Julia Sifuentes of Mexico, Carmen Perez of Mexico, and Alicia Mendoza of Mexico 23 grandchildren and 35 greatgrandchildren.
