Juan Duran

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Apr. 14, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Juan R. Duran of Artesia.

Mr. Duran, 76, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery.

There will also be visitation at Terpening & Son Mortuary on Monday from 10:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m.

A rosary will be held at the church on Monday beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Pallbearers are Dale Osburn, Derek Osburn, Kristian Sifuentes, Ernie Duran, Miguel Duran Jr., Paul Ortega Jr., Jerry Ortega, Jordan Reza and Jonah Reza.

Juan was born May 6, 1938 in Artesia, NM; the son of Juan S. Duran and Encarnacion (Renteria) Duran. He was a longtime area resident.

On May 20, 1955 he was married to Augustina Lopez in Pecos, Texas.

Mr. Duran was a supervisor at Helena Chemicals and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife Augustina Duran of Artesia; sons Jaime Duran and John Ray Duran of Artesia; daughters Adelaida Duran, Rosemary Duran, Norma Duran, Erica Duran, Iris Velo and Omayra Roach all of Artesia; brothers Luis Duran, Henry Duran and Michael Duran all of Artesia; sisters Margaret Valdez of Lovington, NM, Lupe Ortega of Artesia and Rosa Garcia of Artesia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
