Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at Trinity Temple Assembly for Juan Lopez Calderon of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Calderon, 63, died Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Artesia General Hospital E.R.
Bobby Argo will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his brothers Ramon Calderon, Santiago Calderon, Raul Calderon, Manuel Calderon, Joe Calderon, and Martin Calderon. Honorary pallbearers will be his sister, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m.
Juan was born August 29, 1951 in Artesia, New Mexico; the son of Guillermo Calderon and Maria (Reyes) Calderon. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
On July 3, 1971 he was married to Manuela Gomez in Artesia.
Juan worked as a carpenter for most of his working career. He also worked for the City of Artesia for 10 years and Howard Lewis as a carpet layer. He was a member of Trinity Temple and served as a deacon for the church. Juan also enjoyed fishing and hunting, tending to his goats and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; 3 brothers; nephew, a niece, a granddaughter; and a son Jeremiah Calderon.
Survivors include his wife Manuela Calderon of the family home; mother Maria Calderon of Artesia; daughter Monica Calderon of Artesia; sons Steven Calderon and wife Oxsana of Key West, Florida, Mark Calderon of Carlsbad, N.M., John Calderon, Jr. and wife Naomi of Artesia, and David Calderon of Artesia; 8 grandchildren; sister Minnie Calderon of Artesia; brothers Ramon Calderon and wife Vicki of Artesia, Santiago Calderon and wife Joann of Artesia, Raul Calderon and wife Sylvia of Artesia, Manuel Calderon of Artesia, Joe Calderon of Artesia, and Martin Calderon and wife Elizabeth of Artesia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
