Juan Balencia

August 30, 1945 — January 17, 2023

Services are scheduled for 10 am Monday, January 23 at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Juan "Johnny"    N. Balencia of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Balencia, 77, died on January 17, 2023 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Burial will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery.

Johnny was born on August 30, 1945 in Artesia; the son of Porfirio Balencia and Olivia Gill. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia.

Johnny joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served from 1962 to 1966.

On January 18, 1969 he married Eloisa Urquidez. He was a lineman for Central Valley Electric and retired after 44 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and watching wrestling on the television. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary Lopez and Rita Hines.

Survivors include his wife Eloisa Balencia; a son Jaime Balencia and wife Amanda; daughters Lori Flores and husband Eric, and Rosi Sprouse and husband Scott; brother Mike Balencia; sisters Tina Trevino, Ola Balencia-Gabauer, and Toni Franco; grandchildren Jacob Flores, Jonathan Flores, Preva Balencia, Celiah Balencia, Alyssa Balencia, Ashley Balencia, Briana Sprouse, and Olivia Sprouse; great-grandchildren Christopher Flores and Apollo Flores.

The family would like to thank Good Life Senior Living in Carlsbad for all the care, love and respect they shared with Johnny.
