Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 1, 2003, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Joyce A. Crane of Artesia, New Mexico. Miss Crane, 69, died Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at her home. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services. Interment services are scheduled at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Memorial Gardens in Santa Fe, N.M. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Johnston, Betty Huxtable and Wanda Lee, Tim and Tamara Gray, Tim and Theresa Baize; Jeff and DeAnn Bowman, Roetta Hudson all members of her First Baptist Church Sunday School Class. Joyce was born October 30, 1934 in El Paso, Texas; the daughter of Roland A. Crane and Lillian Anderson Crane. She was raised and attended school in the Santa Fe and Lamey, N.M. areas. She attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces and graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation, she came to Artesia to work for the Zia Girl Scout Council and later retired as Executive Director. She also worked as an administrative assistant for American Home Security Life Insurance Company and later as office manager for Main Place. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Santa Fe and attended First Baptist Church in Artesia. She was a former member of the Artesia Public Library Board and the Artesia Humane Society. Survivors include a cousin Sue Young and family of Richland Springs, Texas; and by adopted family members Wanda Jean Swafford of Artesia, Peggy Jo Swafford of Artesia, Nancy and Charles Holder of Artesia, Tobie and John Beck of Lubbock, Texas, Jeff, Riann and Colby Holder of Artesia, and Laura Holder of Artesia. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Zia Girl Scout Council, Paws Claws or to a favorite charity.
