Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Clark Memorial United Methodist Church for Joy Dean Felton, 1504 W. Washington Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Felton, 87, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.
Pastor Travis Husted will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leroy Curry, Ronnie Vest, Charles Kuykendall, Don Manthei, Ken Moore, and Bob Felton. Honorary pallbearers will be Maurise Steward, Bill Rhodes, Lynn Flaming, Kim Harrison and members of the Good Sams Club.
Joy was born November 17, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, Arkansas the daughter of Howard Griggs and Vera Viola Graham Griggs. She came to Artesia in 1966 from Lovington, NM.
On Oct. 20, 1979 she was married to Bill Felton in Artesia.
She was a police dispatcher and a member of Clarke Memorial United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Good Sams Travel Club, Eastern Star, and the Artesia Dance Club at the Senior Center. She loved to bake and share with her friends and family, loved to dance, and travel, and loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister.
Survivors include her husband Bill Felton of Artesia stepdaughter Emily Curry and husband Leroy of Artesia stepson Mark Felton and wife Eileen of Plano, Texas sisters Lola Glover of Searcy, Arkansas, and Geraldine Berry of Middleberry, Indiana 5 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren numerous nieces and nephews.
