Josie Walker

Services are scheduled at 9:30 AM Saturday, September 28, 2002, at Our Lady of Grace Church for Josie Garcia Walker, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Walker, 64, died Monday, September 23, 2002 at Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. Fr. Benedict Folger SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Walker was born May 18, 1938 in Artesia; the daughter of Manuel Chavez and Gertrude Garcia Chavez. She was a life-long resident of Artesia. She was a homemaker and member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Women of the Moose, American Legion Womens Auxiliary Club, and a Cantor at St. Anthonys. A rosary is also set at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Friday at 6:30 PM. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Henry J. Marquez in 1990. Survivors include sons Paul M. Garcia of Chaparral, NM, L.J. Walker of Carlsbad, NM, Steve Marquez of Artesia; brothers Paul Garcia of Roswell, NM, Eddie Garcia of Albuquerque, NM, Richard Garcia of Albuquerque; sister Julia Armendariz of Sun City, California; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
