Joshua Miller

June 3, 1982 — May 18, 2024

Joshua Leon Miller is remembered as a friend with an ever-positive attitude and constant smile. Josh's friendliness is evident by the many friendships and fond memories being shared from all around the country. The overwhelming response received by his family is a testament that Josh was a man of character, trusted and respected by all who had the privilege to be in his presence for any substantial length of time. One of Josh's classmates in a letter to Josh's wife said, "Im so sorry for your loss and so envious that you got to spend his formidable years at your side. What an amazing man and wonderful soul. God Bless you and your journey after him. None of us will be the same."

Josh was born on the third of June in 1982 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Josh entered on duty with the US Border Patrol on July 27th, 2003, as a member of class 559.
For the past 21 years Josh served his Country with dedication, zeal, and loyalty in the United States Border Patrol. Josh loved the Border Patrol and the men and women with whom he served. Josh excelled teaching firearms and was proficient from a young age as a range safety officer as well as throughout his time with the Border Patrol. Josh's love for teaching firearms was evident to all Josh taught and to his peers as he elevated to competition and made everyone around him better.

Josh met his wife Susan in July of 2012 in Roswell, NM at a USPSA pistol match while Josh was detailed to the Border Patrol Academy. This began a lifelong conversation/companionship that is reflected in the closeness of their family. Their relationship continued with Susan selling everything to accompany Josh at his duty station in Sumas Washington. Josh and Susan dated for eleven months, and then were married on June 16th, 2013, in Ferndale Washington.

Josh was assigned and worked at multiple stations and sectors throughout his career, but all roads brought him and his wife back to Artesia. Josh and his wife have lived faith filled lives dedicated to each other and Jesus Christ. It was in Artesia that Josh was called home to be with the Father on May 18th, 2024. Just before Josh passed, he wrote to one of his brothers in Christ, "I'm looking forward to seeing my Father in heaven but sad I'll be leaving my amazing wife. Thank you for looking out for us and for continuing to look after her. Thank you for being a strong brother in arms and a man of your word. May God smile upon you and bless all that you put your hand to as you fight the good fight!"

Josh is survived by his wife Susan, step daughter Heather, step sons Chase and Chance, parents Arik and Avivah, three siblings Rebekah, Avinah, and Daniel, his grandmother Sharon and six nieces and nephews that love him very much. Additionally, during Josh's last few months, Josh was filled with joy surrounded by the new life of his six month old granddaughter Emilia and six week old Adaline.

A funeral service for Josh will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Faith Baptist Church with interment to immediately follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
