Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, September 28, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Josephine Galindo Olivas of Artesia. Mrs. Olivas, 83, died Monday, September 25, 2006 at her home. Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC., will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Lara, Steve Rodriguez, Mike Brizeno, Romero Salazar, Mark Brizeno, and Timothy Salazar. A vigil service is also planned for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Out Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be receiving friends at 813 5. 4th Street. Mrs. Olivas was born March 14, 1923 in Loving, N.M.; the daughter of Benino Galindo and Esther Tarrango Galindo. She was a lifelong resident of the Artesia area. On May 24, 1973 she was married to Jesus Olivas in Hagerman, N.M. She was a housewife and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Hector Alvarado, a grandson Steven Brizeno, and a granddaughter Debbie A. Lara. Survivors include her husband Jesus Olivas of Roswell, N.M.; daughters Alice Brizeno and husband Frank of Artesia, Socorro Lara of Roswell, and Maryann Olivas of Artesia; a nephew Roldopho Galindo and wife Tina of Loving; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
