Memorial services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, Sep. 13, at Terpening Son Chapel for Joseph Van Winkle, Hope, New Mexico.
Mr. Van Winkle, 67, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in Artesia, New Mexico.
Cremation will be under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.
Joseph was born September 2, 1946 in Silver City, New Mexico. He came to Artesia in the 1960s from the Cloudcroft area.
On Dec. 5, 1970 he was married to Ann Parker in Hope, NM.
He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam.
He was a Truck driver for cross country, road construction and the oilfield. He wasa member of the Baptist Denomination.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mom Helen Black, grandparents Red and Bess Van Winkle, and Dolph and Hazel Winona.
Survivors include his wife Ann Van Winkle of Hope daughter Jana Gallegos of Santa Fe, NM sisters Theda Harshey and husband Gene of Alamogordo, NM, and Vi Hernandez and husband Paul of San Antonio, Texas 4 grandchildren Cody Gallegos, Charlene Gallegos, Tommy Gallegos and wife Karla, Jim Gallegos and wife Catherine 8 greatgrandchildren numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
