Josefina Martinez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, April 19 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Josefina N. Martinez of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Martinez, 80, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Father Benedict Folger and Deacon Pablo Merjil will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tim Bussell, Lorenzo Onsurez, Ernesto Navarrette, David Navarrette, Tony Perez, and Urbano Perez. A Rosary service is also planned for 6:30 P.M. Friday at Terpening Son Mortuary. Mrs. Martinez was born November 26, 1922 in Dayton, New Mexico; the daughter of Quinino Navarrette and Clara Palafox Navarrette. On December 19, 1947 she was married to Felipe Martinez in Artesia. Her husband preceded her in death April 3, 1962. She was a housewife and member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by five brothers including Secundino Navarrette, Pedro Navarrette, and Anastacio Navarrette. Survivors include daughters Rose Mary Bussell and husband Tim of Artesia and Elisa Onsurez and husband Chris of Artesia; sisters Victoria Navarrette of Albuquerque, N.M. and Susan Derado and husband Joe of Albuquerque; grandchildren Jessica Bussell, Chelsea Bussell, Angelica Onsurez, Felipe Onsurez and Lorenzo Onsurez; and great-grandchildren Ryne, Tyler, and Alex.
