Josefina Marquez

Services are scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Josefina Josie Marquez of Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Marquez, 78, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at her home. PFr. Paul Murtagh SSCC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trancy L. Marquez, Rolando Chavarria, Jr., Rolando Chavarria III, Frank Molina, Bobby Olguin, and Pete Gamino. Honorary pallbearers will be Abelino Molina, Manuel Molina, Sonny Molina, Richard Molina, Joe Mancillas, and James Perez. PVisitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday. A prayer service will be at Our Lady of Grace Friday at 4:30 p.m. PMrs. Marquez was born May 3, 1928 in Seven Rivers, N.M.; the daughter of Jose Venegas and Epimena Molina Venegas. POn Feb. 9, 1948 she was married to Ysaias T. Marquez in Artesia. She was a lifelong resident of the Artesia area. He preceded her in death July 24, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter Chona Marquez; and a grandson James David Ramirez. PJosie was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary, Liturgy Committee, she served communion to the homebound, Secular Fransiscan Order, Eucharist Minister, Cursillistas, and Sacristian Apostaldo.
Survivors include her sons Ysaias V. Marquez, Jr. of Artesia, Jerry L. Marquez of Hobbs, N.M., and Trancy L. Marquez and wife Johnnie of Artesia; daughter Darlene Chavarria and husband Rolando, Jr. of Artesia; brother Ben Mendoza of Santa Fe, N.M.; grandchildren Jennifer, Jeanette, Joseph, and Jeremiah Marquez, Rolando A. Chavarria III, and Raven Chavarria; and three great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
