Josefa Rodriguez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, for Josefa Lil Gramma Rodriguez of Artesia. Mrs. Rodriguez, 88, passed away Monday, May 12, 2008, at her home. Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Steven Rodriguez, Conrad Hernandez, Noel Rodriguez, Rodney Rodriguez, Lorenzo Leon and Patricio Leon. A rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Grace. Josefa was born April 6, 1920, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico; the daughter of Atilano Reyes and Manuela Paz Reyes. She came to Artesia as a child. She was married to Faustino Rodriguez on June 28, 1943 in Carlsbad, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son Sammy Rodriguez, brothers Daniel Reyes and Manuel Reyes; and sisters Julia Garcia and Margaret Margie Ramirez. Mrs. Rodriguez was retired after working as a housekeeper at Artesia General Hospital for more than 30 years. She enjoyed walking and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Survivors include her sons, Lionel Rodriguez and Clyde Rodriguez; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
