José "Cachi" Cabezuela, 97, was called to Heaven on November 30, 2022. Jose was residing at Artesia Health Care and Rehab Center at the time of his death. He was born on September 22,1925 in Ruidosa, TX to Esiquio and Augustina(Rentería) Cabezuela.
On September 20, 1950 he married the love of his life Tomasa Navarrette in Ojinaga Chihuahua, Mexico. They moved to Artesia in 1960 from Texas. He had several farming jobs, but the one he enjoyed the most was at NMSU Agricultural Center in Artesia, till he retired in 1988.
He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. In his earlier years he was a member of Holy Name Society and a Cursillista. Jose loved his extended family, he was always in prayer. He enjoyed gardening, he was given the opportunity to grow his own small garden at Artesia Health Care Center and he was proud of it. He loved life, he was a ray of sunshine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his brothers- Jesus Cabezuela, Aurelio Cabezuela, Miguel Cabezuela, Esiquio Cabezuela. His sisters-Albecia Lerma, Chena Gutiérrez, Maria Madrid, Manuela Martínez. A Godson/Nephew Benito C Carrasco.
Pallbearers will be his nephews-
Jorge Martínez, Bobby Cabezuela, Manuel Huerta, George Sánchez, Luis Mariscal, Juan Diego Carrasco. Honorary Pallbearers Dr Joe Salgado, Manuel Reza, Jose Villa
He is survived by many nieces and nephews. An adored niece Angelina Chavarría and her family. Veronica Montoya, Sandra Hernandez, Pedro Martínez. Their children- Carlos Montoya, Timothy Montoya, Andrew Montoya, Santiago Hernandez, Samantha Hernandez, Adrian Hernandez, Benjamin Dominguez and Luca Hernandez.
Fr. V.J. and Deacon Pablo Merjil will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Terpening and Son Mortuary from 2-6pm on Sunday December 4th. A Rosary will be recited Monday December 5th at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Inhabit Hospice Care, Artesia Health Care and Rehab Center. Also a niece who looked after his care in his earlier years, Christina Hernandez.
