Jose Mariscal

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Jose C. Mariscal of Artesia, N.M. A rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday before mass.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm.

Mr. Mariscal, 94, died Monday, October 7, 2019 at Invigorate Nursing Home.

Fr. Vijay will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Duran, Christy Mariscal, Paul Anthony Muniz, Mario Mariscal, Guadalupe Canales, and Michael Ray Mariscal. Honorary pallbearers will be his remaining grandchildren.

Jose was born November 2, 1924 to Refugio Mariscal and Juana Cervantez Mariscal in Bisbee, Arizona.

He married Christina Gonzales April 4, 1946 in Sierra Blanca, Texas. They came to Artesia in 1948.

Jose was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, singing, his work, and trips to Ruidoso. He was a strong man who loved his children and grandchildren deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fernando and Lupe Mariscal, his wife Christina Mariscal and granddaughter Valerie Romo.

Survivors include his sons Guadalupe and wife Rosa of Artesia, Jose and wife Eva of Artesia, Santos and wife Helen of Artesia, Ignacio and wife Carmen of Artesia, Manuel and wife Martha of Artesia, Ventura and wife Victoria of Artesia, Ramon and wife Sally of Las Cruces, and Jesse of Artesia; daughters Yolanda Romo and husband Gilbert of Artesia, Janie Mariscal of Rio Rancho, Hilaria Mariscal of Las Cruces and Rosie Muniz of Artesia; 35 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
