Jose Aguilar

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lake Arthur, for Jose S. Aguilar, 332 Pueblo Rd., Lake Arthur, New Mexico. Mr. Aguilar, 67, died Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Artesia General Hospital. Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Lake Arthur Cemetery in Lake Arthur, NM. Pallbearers will be Mario Romero, Max Hernandez, Danny Aguilar, Lupe Salazar, Jesus Levario Sr., and Jesus Jose Levario. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Duran, Abel Montoya, Gonzalo Montoya Sr., Rito Franco, Vicente Fuentez, Ignacio Romero and Javier Montoya. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Terpening Son Chapel. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Aguilar was born May 12, 1940 in Artesia, New Mexico; the son of Juan M. Aguilar and Maria Salazar Aguilar. On Sept. 18, 1959 he was married to Effie Hernandez. He was a lifelong area resident. She preceded him in death June 7, 1964. He was a heavy equipment operator and member of Immaculate Concepcion Catholic Church in Dexter, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Patsy Sue Aguilar. Survivors include daughters Eugenia Levario and husband Leo of Lake Arthur, Ramona Valenzuela and husband Amador of Artesia, Tina Medina of Roswell, N.M., and Verletta Padilla of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers Jesus Aguilar and wife Maria of Dexter, Manuel Aguilar of LaFeria, Texas, and Ray Aguilar of Lake Arthur; sister Delores Granado of Dexter; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; ex-wives Nestora Sedillos and Nellie Padilla.
