Jonathan Sevier

A memorial service is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, at Faith Baptist Church for Jonathan DeWayne Sevier of Artesia. Jon passed away on August 18, 2015 at his home in Artesia. Jon was 47 years of age.

The service will be conducted by his brother-in-law Joby R. Houghtaling.

Jon was born on December 30, 1967, the oldest child of James and Leta (Powell) Sevier. Jon graduated from Artesia High School in 1985 and then attended the Phoenix Institute of Technology, graduating with a certificate in Architectural and Drafting in 1987. He went on to have a career in fabrication, welding and blue print schematics working for a variety of shops in SE New Mexico and Colorado. One of Jon's proudest accomplishments was being a foreman on a crew that worked on the renovation of the Denver Broncos Mile High Stadium. The Broncos were also Jon's favorite football team. He loved his family and also loved to fish and hunt.

Jon is survived by two children, Dalaci (Phillip) and Katelynn (Jeffrey); grandchildren Lashay, Vinson, Emmaleigh and Talon; his parents James and Leta; sisters Pam (Joby) and Jamey (Tre'); brother Phillip (Jenny); grandmother Jean Sevier; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Jon was preceded in death by his grandmother Clita Eldean Powell, great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. LA Thompson, and grandfather Lloyd Sevier.

Jon will be greatly missed.
