Private family service will be held at a later date for Jon C. Wortley of Mayhill, New Mexico.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Jon passed from this earth and went on his next journey on Friday, October 25, 2019 in Mayhill, New Mexico.
He was born Thanksgiving day November 25, 1943 in Jackson, Michigan the son of Thomas and June Wortley.
He graduated from Grass Lake High School valedictorian of his class in 1962 and went on the receive an Associates Degree in Accounting at Cleary College in 1964. He earned his CPA license for Michigan in 1969 and in 1970 for New Mexico.
On May 21, 1966 he married the love of his life Karen Osborne and they had 53 wonderful years together. In 1969 they were blessed with a daughter Amy. They moved to Artesia, New Mexico from Grass Lake, Michigan in 1970. In 1972 they were blessed a second time with a son Adam. Since 1974 they have had a second home in the Mayhill, New Mexico area and in 2008 it became their permanent home.
His working career in Artesia started at Elmer, Fox & Westheimer & Co CPA firm. He also worked at Navajo Refining, First National Bank (now First American) and ending with his goal of his own CPA firm with offices in Artesia and Cloudcroft. He retired in 2014.
Jon was an avid outdoors man. Hiking, hunting and fishing in the outdoors with all its natural glory is where he found tranquility.
His legacy lives on and includes his loving wife Karen Wortley of Mayhill; daughter Amy Wilson of Artesia; son Adam Wortley & wife Jamie of Artesia; grandchildren Julia Wortley, Riley Wortley, Kayden Pinson & Kase McClane; brother in law Keith & Kathy Osborne; sister in laws Nancy & Jim Marton and Sue Osborne all of Michigan; special sister "Patsy" Patty Baker and numerous nieces and nephews.
