Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Johnny A. Lara, Sr., 35 Gary Dr., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Lara, 57, died Friday, August 10, 2007 at his home. Fr. Chris Santangelo, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pate Hernandez, Sammy Herrera, George Monroe, Rodney Hernandez, Jector Martinez, Sr. and Mike Rodriguez. A vigil service is also planned for 6:30 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Mr. Lara was born May 15, 1950 in Artesia; the son of Antonio C. Lara and Lilliana Lugo Lara. On September 23, 1974 he was married to Adalberta Herrera in Artesia. A lifelong Artesia resident, he was a floor hand for Key Energy Service and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his father Antonio C. Lara; and by brothers Tony Lara and Francisco Lara. Survivors include his wife Adalberta H. Lara of the family home; his mother Lilliana L. Lara of Artesia; children Lee A. Herrera of Carlsbad, N.M., Johnny A. Lara, Jr. and wife Roberta, Carmen M. Lara, and Joshua R. Lara all of Artesia, brothers Jimmy Lara of Espanola, N.M., and Manuel Lara, and Cruz Lara both of Artesia; sisters Flavia L. Martinez, Helen L. Molina, and Diana L. Lara all of Artesia; and five grandchildren.
