Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Johnny Flores Sr.
Johnny, 71, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 at his home.
Fr. Vijaya will officiate the services. A rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Grace, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m, with mass following at 10:00 a.m., and interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Flores Jr., Benjamin Flores, Aaron Flores, Christian Flores, Adrian Flores, and David Lucero Jr.
Johnny was born January 3, 1949, in Artesia, New Mexico to Claro Flores and Eduarda (Garcia) Flores. He was a life long resident of Artesia.
On July 14, 1968, he married Lily De Hoyos and they had two sons.
In 1969, Johnny was drafted into the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged in 1975. He went on to work for the State for 2 years, Navajo Refining for 25 years, and the Arteisa Public Schools for 14 years.
He was a devoted Catholic attending Our Lady of Grace and St. Anthony Catholic Church. In his spare time he enjoyed feeding his farm animals, hunting, fishing, attending Bulldog football games, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Lily, sons Johnny Flores Jr. and wife Sandra, Benjamin Flores and wife Erica, grandchildren Krystal and spouse David Lucero Jr., Aaron, Christian, Adrian, and Renee all of Artesia; mother Eduarda Flores; Brothers Felix of Artesia, Joe and wife Angie of Hobbs, NM, Carlos of Plainview, TX, Adolfo and wife Sally of Roswell, NM, Martin of Hobbs, NM; Sisters Cruz Barela and husband Hector of Tatum, NM, Lolly Salas and husband George of Hagerman, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Johnny is preceeded in death by his older brother Jesse and father Claro Flores.
The family would like to send a special thanks to J&J Homecare and Encompass Hospice for the loving care that they provided.
