Graveside services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at Woodbine Cemetery for Johnnie N. Guthrie of Artesia.

Mrs. Guthrie, 87, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at San Pedro Nursing Center in Artesia, New Mexico.

Jason Kraft will officiate at the services. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Sullivan, Scott Walker, Buddy Petsonk, Wayne Howell, Tim Kidd, Jamey Smith, and Alan Howell.

Johnnie was born September 18, 1927 in Whichita Falls, Texas; the daughter of John L. Smith and Grace L (Gholson) Smith. She came to Artesia in 1949 from Manahans Texas.

On Dec. 25, 1943 she was married to V.H. "Bill" Guthrie in Lampasas, Texas. He preceded her in death July 20, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson J. Valton Guthrie; and a great-granddaughter.

She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren and children.

Survivors include her daughter Claudia Hill and husband Mike of Artesia; son John Valton Guthrie, Sr. and wife Renee of Artesia; grandchildren Robert Guthrie, Jeremy Guthrie, Trenton Guthrie and wife Nicole, Stacey Weatherford, Chenay Hernandez and husband Joel, Heather Lieb and husband Aaron; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Howell of Lakewood, NM, Molly Petsonk and husband Marty of Artesia; brothers James L. Smith and wife Diane of Artesia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
