John Williams

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2006, at Terpening Son Chapel for John F Williams, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Williams, 77, died Friday, August 11 , 2006 at his home following a lengthy illness. Rev. Gavin Vaughan will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Fanning, Sr., Leroy Coronado, Don Carter, Lonnie Archer, Mike Carter, and Curtis Teel. Honorary pallbearers will be friends from the Sug Hazel Flying service and all other friends. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Williams was born September 7, 1928 in Carlsbad, New Mexico; the son of Edgar Williams and Catherine Finlay Williams. On May 25, 1974 he was married to Catherine Cornwell in Artesia. He was a longtime area resident. He served in the Army during Korea. He was a Southwestern Public Service Meter Reader for 35 years. He was a member of the Baptist Denomination and Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son. Survivors include his wife Catherine Williams of the family home; 2 step-sons and 2 step-daughters; sister Barbara Runyan of Hope, N.M.; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
