Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 8, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Artesia, N.M. for John Henry Savoie of Roswell, New Mexico. Mr. Savoie, 85, died Thursday, December 4, 2003 at his home. Deacon Pablo Merjil will officiate at the services with Military Honors and Elks Rites. Mr. Savoie was born May 21, 1918 in Montague, Texas; the son of Oscar Savoie and Mary Elzy Savoie. He came to Artesia in 1929 from Muenster, Texas. On December 20, 1944 he was married to Reba Lois Marshall in Chap Chanks, N.Y. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a mechanic and owneroperator of Artesia Wrecking Co. for 30 years. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Roswell, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Artesia Elks Lodge, and Senior Citizen Circle of Roswell, NM. A rosary is also scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Terpening Son Chapel in Artesia. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Lawrence and O.B. Bud Savoie. Survivors include his wife Reba Savoie of the family home; daughter Marion Frances Savoie Northcutt and husband Jim of Richmond, Virginia; sister Dorothy Stogner of Artesia; granddaughter Marion Janette Busby Petersen and husband Cory of Roswell; great-grandsons Matthew Arriaga of Roswell, and Joshua Petersen of Roswell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
