John Nelson

Services are scheduled for 1 pm Tuesday, December 10 at Terpening & Son Mortuary for John Phillip Nelson of Lake Arthur, New Mexico.

Mr. Nelson, 80, died on December 5, 2024 at his home in Lake Arthur.

Wade Nelson will officiate at the services. Cremation will take place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Johnny was born on February 26, 1944 in Lake Arthur; the son of Charles Nelson and Lucille Price Nelson.

Johnny was a true cowboy that loved everything about the cowboy life. Johnny loved horses, roping, shooting, and the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association. Johnny also had a lifelong love of dogs and could often be seen with them in his lap, pickup, and tractor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harvey Nelson, Harry Nelson and Jerry Nelson, and sisters Phyllis Moore, Yvonne Pollard, Alma Lyn McCullough, and Peggy Speck.

Survivors include a son Michael Nelson and wife Jenny, grandchildren Cayla Nelson, Nik Nelson, Landon Nelson, and Natalee Nelson, and a daughter Michelle Smith.
