John H. Neel, 78 loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend died February 2, 2007 at home in Artesia, after a long illness. He was born July 23, l928 in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico John was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Neel, and mother, Bessie Eshom Neel. Sisters Mildred Neel, Alice Stegall, Nina Matteson, and Brothers Wilfred Neel and Clifford Neel. John was in the lumber business in Oregon from 1945 until l960. He returned to New Mexico in l960 where he farmed, in later years he worked at Artesia Alfalfa Growers Association. John was a man who could not sit still, after retiring he took up woodworking and refinishing furniture. He is survived by his devoted wife Eva of 61 years. Daughter Sandra Boulden and husband Bill, their children, Craig Boulden and wife Kathy of Artesia and Chad Boulden and wife Kelly of Grand Prairie, Texas. Son, Bruce Rocky Neel and his children Edana Yates and husband Otis and Wesley Neel and wife Lisa, family friends Alyson Young and Brad Young. Son, John Neel Jr. and wife Tammy, children Scott Neel and Jarad Neel, Dalaci, Laramie, Brianna. Son, Doug Neel and wife Dianna, their children Deonna and Dakota. Eight great grand children. Brother George Neel and wife Georgetta, of Farmington New Mexico. Sister Louise Capps of Hobbs, New Mexico Sister Virginia Nowell of La Luz, New Mexico Brother in Law Bones Newsom and wife Dean of Artesia. Sisters in law Grace Clanton of Artesia and her husband the late Murrell Clanton, and Marie Neel of Lovington, New Mexico. Many Nieces and nephews John was truly a remarkable man who set a great example for his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and came to love him. Services will be at Ten a.m. February 5, 2007 at Terpening Son Chapel, 611 West Grand Ave.Artesia, New Mexico with burial at Twin Oaks. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Pallbearers will be Johns six grandsons, Craig Boulden, Chad Boulden, Wesley Neel, Scott Neel, Jarad Neel, Dakota Neel. Honorary Pallbearers will be Otis Yates, Brad Young, Laramie Rollins, Brian Harlan.
