John Gonzales

Services are scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, September 18, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for John J. Gonzales of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Gonzales, 74, died on September 10, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas.

Father Vijay will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. A rosary is also scheduled for 9:30 am on Wednesday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Pallbearers will be Ricky Gonzales, Tony Perez, Leo Torrez, Bobby Olguin, Jeremy Torres, and Miguel Gonzales.

John was born on July 21, 1950 in Artesia; the son of Catarino Gonzales and Juanita Perez Gonzales. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia. On June 6, 1967 he was married to Alice Olguin in Pecos, Texas.

John was a car salesman at Artesia Ford for many years. He was well known and respected in our community and loved visiting with friends a family. He enjoyed dancing, fishing and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Catarino Gonzales Jr.

He is survived by his wife Alice Gonzales; children Vicky Olivas and husband Jaime, Lisa Ricci and husband Ruben, and Ricky Gonzales; brothers Mike Gonzales and wife Arcelia, and Angel Gonzales and wife Denise; sisters Socorro Gonzales, Antonia Hernandez and husband Ben, Helen Gonzales, Sally Jorren and husband Mike, and Betty Selmer; grandchildren Leti Olivas, Monique Vasquez and husband Jimmy, Jeremy Torres, Angel Ricci and wife Annette, and Roman Ricci; great-grandchildren Emilio Olivas, Javyn Vasquez, Jenissi Vasquez, Aubri Torres, Avayah Torres, Jace Torres, and Jaycen Torres.

There will be a reception at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church following the interment services.
