John Carter

June 13, 1922 — February 3, 2010

Memorial graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for John L. Micky Carter, 613 N. 16th St., Artesia,
New Mexico.

Mr. Carter, 87, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at his home.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.

Mr. Carter was born June 13, 1922 in Bomarton, Texas the son of Charles C. Carter and Anna Lorene Nichols Carter.

On July 14, 1948 he was married to Floretta McCullough in Carlsbad, N.M. He was a longtime resident of Artesia. She preceded him in death March 10, 1993.

He served in the United States Air Force, and was a foreman at Navajo Refining. He was a member of the Baptist Denomination, and of the founding Hospital Board that built the hospital at its current location.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a grandson, and a brother.

Survivors include daughters Waynetta McNeil and husband Jimmy Day of Alvin, Texas, Paula Jones and husband Clyde of Artesia, and Bonnie Kilpatrick and husband Jimmy of Artesia 6 grandchildren James R. McNeil, Terri Anderson, Wade Smith, Todie Armstrong, Brian Kilpatrick and Michael Kilpatrick 8 greatgrandchildren.
