John Baca

Rosary at 9:30 a.m, Funeral services will immediately follow after at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 9, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for John Padilla Baca of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Baca, 80, passed away December 6, 2019 in Artesia.

Fr. Francis Lazer will officiate at the services. Burial will follow the services at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Patrick Gonzales, Jerome Gonzales, Armando Baca, Bobo Baca, Mark Salgado, Xavier Gonzales, Steve Vargas, Michael Lara, Will Krogman and Matthew Hernandez.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary on Sunday December 8, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

John was born November 1, 1939 in Artesia, NM; the son of Juan C. Baca and Anita (Padilla) Baca.

In the 1950's he was a Golden Glove Champion. After graduating from AHS he enlisted in the Army.

His places of employment include: Guy Chevrolet in Artesia, Sierra Blanca Motors in Ruidoso and he was also a car salesman in Artesia, before retiring.

He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and was a Crusillista. He was also an active member of Knights of Columbus in Ruidoso. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and going for long walks. He was an avid Oakland Raiders and Artesia Bulldogs fan and loved his family very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Victoria Curtis.

Survivors include his son John D. Baca and wife Julie of Artesia; daughter Yvonne Krogman and husband Bill Jr. of Ruidoso, NM; brother Reuben Baca of Artesia; sisters Petra Baca of Rio Rancho, NM, Helen Slagado and husband Sonny of Las Cruces, NM, Isabel Acosta and Erlinda Briseno of Artesia; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
