Joel Ochoa, Jr.

Services are scheduled at 9:30 Friday, July 9, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Joel Ochoa, Jr., 909 N. 6th St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Ochoa, 19, died July 3, 1999, east of Artesia. Father Vincent Petersen will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raul Vega, Angel Ochoa, Julian Ochoa, Santana Ochoa, Chris Montes and Jeremy DeHoyos. Honorary pallbearers will be Isaac Carrasco, Carlos Zarazua, Salvador Rubio, Lorenzo Guzman, Lorenzo Madrid and all friends. A Rosary service is also planned for 6:30 P.M. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace. Joel was born February 3, 1980 in Roswell, New Mexico; the son of Joel Ochoa, Sr. and Diana Madrid. He was a restaurant cook at Chaos Cafe and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Lydia Madrid; by cousins Enrique Armendariz, Jr. and Bianca Uribe; and by an uncle Efrain Ochoa. Survivors include his father Joel Ochoa, Sr. of Artesia; his mother Diana Madrid of Artesia; brothers Jerome Ochoa and Jeffery John Ochoa both of Artesia and Michael Ochoa of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister Ashley Marie Ochoa of Artesia; grandfather Dinisio Madrid of Artesia; grandparents Julian and Delfina Ochoa of Artesia; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
