Joe Mendoza

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Joe D. Mendoza, 1908 W. Grand Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Mendoza, 46, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 in Pecos, Texas. Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Abel Ponce, Jr., Daniel Aguirre, Jose Mendoza, Manuel Melendez, Ray Ramirez, and Ricko Olivas. A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Mendoza was born November 17, 1960 in Artesia, New Mexico; the son of David Mendoza and Ramona Renteria Mendoza. A lifelong resident of Artesia, he was a truck driver and enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He was preceded in death by his mother and 2 brothers. Survivors include his ex-wife Luzmila Mendoza of Artesia; father David Mendoza of Alamogordo, N.M.; daughters Erica Mendoza of Artesia, and Janice Mendoza of Artesia; son Abel Ponce, Jr. of Artesia; sisters Armida Mendoza of Alamogordo, and Rosemary Mendoza of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandson Darius Mendoza of Artesia, and 5 step-grandchildren; 4 nephews and a niece.
