Joe Bolen Services are scheduled at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 10, at Terpening Son Chapel for Joe Bolen, Hope, New Mexico. Mr. Bolen, 67, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Rev. J. B. Craft and Troy Turpen will officiate at the services with burial at Upper Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Troy Bolen, Dwight Bolen, Fred Bolen, Steve Bartlett, Darren Vaughn, and Kendale Hendrix. Mr. Bolen was born March 20, 1936 in East Jessey, Oklahoma; the son of James E. Bolen and Edith Hollingsworth Bolen. On March 4,1967 he was married to Sylvia Rose Simmons in Long Beach, Calif. He came to Artesia in the 1950s from Oklahoma. He served in the Army. He was a Drilling Superintendent in the oilfield. He was a member of the Hope City Council from 1982-86 and from 1988-92, Hope Volunteer Fireman, and a member of the Chickasaw Nation. Visitation at Terpening Son Chapel Friday starting at 10:00 AM. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. Survivors include wife Sylvia Rose Bolen of the family home; daughters Victoria Henderson of Carlsbad, and Deanie Bartlett of Carlsbad; sons Buddy Henderson of Amarillo, Texas, Troy Bolen of Ruidoso, NM, Dwight Bolen of Artesia, and Fred Bolen of Hope; brother James E. Bolen Jr. of Ada, Oklahoma; sister Sally Harrah of Beckley, West Virginia; 13 grandchildren.
