Joanne Buck

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 5, at First Baptist Church for Joanne Buck of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Buck, 79, died Monday, January 2, 2006 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Don Price will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be A.J. Bartlett, Michael Towler, Roland Vennebush, Bob Waugh, Randy Buck, and Pete Green. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary, Wednesday beginning at 10:00 A.M. Mrs. Buck was born September 2, 1926 in Seamore, Texas; the daughter of Charles W. Edwards and Evelyn Buckannon Edwards. She came to Artesia in 1964 from Texas where she was married to Charles Buck on March 1, 1968. She was a Book keeper for Valley Lumber Kleins Dairy. After retiring in 1973 she then volunteered for the Hospital Auxiliary and at the First Baptist Church nursery. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and the Beta Sigma Phi. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Charles Buck of the family home; sons Joel Edward Buck of Artesia, and William Calvin Brooks of Houston, Texas; daughters Jo Lynn Greene husband Pete of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Kathy Lynn Hopper husband Gentry of Myrtle, Missouri; brother Eugene Edwards of Roswell, N.M.; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Artesia Good Samaritan Care Center.
