Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, at The Forever Free Fellowship, 801 W. Grand Ave., Artesia, N.M., for Jimmy D. Ortega of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Mr. Ortega, 47, died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Daniel Mullins will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Ortega, Jerry Ortega, Art Ortega, Elva Viquez, Jimmy Ortega, Jr., Jeffrey Ortega, Joshua Tesillo, and Marcos Ortega. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ybarra family, Manuel Fuentes, Jerry Fuentes, Arnold Fuentes, Abel Rodriguez and Bobby Rodriguez. A Rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Thusday at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Ortega was born October 30, 1960 in Artesia, New Mexico; the son of Pablo C. Ortega and Gloria Duran Ortega. On July 16, 1999 he was married to Lorina Rodriguez in Artesia. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia until moving to Carlsbad 7 years ago. Jimmy worked as an Operator in the oil fields. He was of the Catholic faith, an avid biker and outdoorsman. He also loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and a daughter Joanna. Survivors include his wife Lorina Ortega of the family home; sons Joshua Tesillo and wife Kimber of Lufkin, Texas, Jimmy Ortega, Jr. and wife Christine of Lovington, N.M., John Anthony Ortega and wife Connie of Lovington, Jeffrey Ortega of Lovington, Joey Ortega of Lovington, Jaime Ortega of Lovington, and Marcos Ortega of Portales, N.M.; daughter Genevieve Ortega of Portales; step-son Abraham Munoz and wife Elizabeth of Carlsbad; step-daughter Naomi Rodriguez of Carlsbad; brothers Mario Ortega and wife Joann of Maricopa, Arizona, Jerry Ortega and wife Sheila of Artesia, and Art Ortega and wife Sheryl of Artesia, and Paul Ortega, Jr. and wife Pam of Artesia; sisters Mary Ruiz and husband Breigdo of Carlsbad, Elva Viquez of Artesia, Barbara Ortega of Artesia, and Rita Ortega of Ballinger, Texas; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
