Services are scheduled at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 17, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Jimmy S. Navarrette, 1106 W. Dallas Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Navarrette, 76, died Friday, December 12, 2008 at Eastern N.M. Medical Center in Roswell, New Mexico. Deacon Sam Navarrette will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Robert Navarrette, Edward Navarrette, Sam Gomez, Martin Aguilar, Jose Cortez, and Frank Dickey. Honorary pallbearers will be Nikko Tesillo, Fabian Navarrette, Maurice Dickey II and Mathew Garcia. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 P.M. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Navarrette was born July 25, 1932 in Artesia, New Mexico; the son of Price Navarrette and Panfila Saiz Navarrette. On April 18, 1953 he was married to Cecilia Marquez in Artesia. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia. She preceded him in death Nov. 23, 1991. He was a foreman for the State Highway Dept. A member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Moose Lodge, Army National Guard, church choir, and a musician. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jimmy Navarrette II, a brother Raymond and a sister Bernie McDill. Survivors include son Jimmy Navarrette Jr. of Hobbs, N.M.; daughters Corina Amador of Ruidoso, N.M., Viola Dickey of El Paso, Texas, and Gloria Tesillo of Roswell; brothers Sam Navarrette of Hobbs, Edward Navarrette of Roswell, and Robert Navarrette of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters Mary Pratt of Pennsylvania, Dominga Gomez of Roswell, Virgie Barbier of Colorado, and Mercy Hernandez of Moriarity, N.M.; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
