Jimmy Mathews

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, Mar. 7, at West Main Baptist Church for Jimmy W. Mathews of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Mathews, 53, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Rev. Belton Mathews will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Mathews, Mike Crawford, Rick Tetts, Jerry Mathews, Belton Mathews, and Butch Mathews.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Mathews was born January 10, 1958 in Artesia the son of Lloyd Mathews and Louise Miller Mathews.

Jimmy was a lifelong Artesia resident.

He worked as a Derrick Hand and was a member of the Baptist faith. He also enjoyed making knifes.

He was preceded in death by his mother on July 15, 1987, and his grandparents.

Survivors include his father Lloyd Mathews of Artesia daughters April Lanning and husband Justin of Roswell, N.M., Heather Crawford of Artesia, and Misty Mathews of Roswell sister Linda Mathews of Artesia grandchildren Tessa Mathews, Justin Jace Lanning, and Brooklynne Fresquez.
