Jim Herring

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, at Terpening Son Chapel for Jimmie Doss Herring, 2618 W. Missouri Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Herring, 84, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at his home.

Don Johnston will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayland Newberry, Rufus Brown, John Smith, Lewis Derrick, Mak Johnson and Jody Jackson.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Jim was born May 17, 1929 in Ballenger, Texas the son of Doss Berry Herring and Kathleen Hollaway Herring. He came to Artesia in 1948 from Ballenger.

On Dec. 20, 1958 he was married to Lois Fambrough in Hagerman, NM.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a rancher and worked for the Turkey Track Ranch for 45 years. He was a member of the Baptist Denomination.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dale Herring, and a brother Tom Herring.

Survivors include his wife Lois Herring of Artesia son Jimmy Herring and wife Pam of Artesia brother Herman Herring of Artesia 3 grandchildren Brittany Herring, Leann Herring and Baili Herring.
