Jim Cunningham

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, at Terpening Son Mortuary Chapel for Jim Cunningham, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Cunningham, 78, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 in Carlsbad. Rev. David Rogers will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Cunningham was born October 9, 1929 in Muleshoe, Texas; the son of William Cunningham and Willie Mae Cunningham. On April 9, 1954 he was married to Rose Dufur in Aztec, N.M. He came to Artesia in 1979 from Portales until moving to Carlsbad in 2004. His wife preceded him in death Aug. 28, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sons Allen Cunningham, James Roy Cunningham, Jr., and Leslie Cunningham; a grandson Jeffrey Cunningham; and nine brothers; and one sister. He was a farmer and member of Baptist denomination. Survivors include daughters Sandy Goodart and husband Dan of Lake Arthur, N.M., and Laura Thompson and husband David of Carlsbad; grandchildren Matthew Cunningham, Allison Stevens, James Roy Cunningham,III, Bryan Cunningham, Toby Cunningham, Corey Tate, Dorenda Tate, Micah Thompson, Niki Thompson, and Dustin Thompson.
