Jewel Sharry

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 25 at First United Methodist Church for Jewel Sharry, 1402 Gilchrist Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Sharry, 106, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at Artesia General Hospital. PRev. Paul Duerkson assisted by Rev. Ed Kneeland, and Wayne Bedingfield will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. PMrs. Sharry was born June 24, 1902 in Mason County, Texas; the daughter of Floyd M. Jones and Lula Narcissus Hill Jones. POn Nov. 10, 1920 she was married to D. Otis Sharry in Ballinger, Texas. They came to Artesia in June of 1984 from Weatherford, Oklahoma. Her husband preceded her in death March 31, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by 13 brothers and sisters. PShe was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women. PSurvivors include a son Carl Otis Sharry and wife Lois of Hanford, Calif.; daughters Lovetta Lewis and husband Leroy of Artesia and Oletta Faye Davis and husband Bill of Rustin, La.; a brother Joe Jones and wife Ellon of Abilene, Texas; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
