Jesus Marquez, Jr.

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Jesus Palomino Marquez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Marquez, 85, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his home.

Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Epifanio Bustamante, Sr., Gerard Escamilla, Epie Bustamante, Jr., EnriqueBustamante, Guillermo Bustamante, and Emilio Escamilla.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Thursday beginnng at 4:00 p.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Jesus was born September 13, 1926 in Presidio, Texas the son of Jesus Ornelas Marquez, Sr. and Petra Palomino Soza Marquez. He came to Artesia in 1947 from Texas.

On August 2, 1952 he was married to Maria Ascension Velasco in Roswell, N.M.

Jesus was the OwnerOperator of Marquez Trucking for 26 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Crucillistas, and the Texas Home Guard. Jesus hauled alfalfa before owning his own trucking company and enjoyed gardening and farming, and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Maria Ascension Marquez of the family home sons Noel Marquez and wife Madeline of Artesia, and Louie Marquez of Alubquerque, N.M. daughters Irene Bustamante and husband Epifanio of Artesia, and Annabel Escamilla and husband Gerard of Artesia 9 grandchildren 3 greatgrandchildren siblings Maria Rubio, Agripina Leyba, Rosa Aguilar, Jose Marquez, Gracia Lopez, Guadalupe Marquez, Enrique Marquez, and Oscar Marquez.
